Afghanistan you absolute beauties!!

Good afternoon you happy happy people! Over night Afghanistan beat Australia………Afghanistan BEAT Australia! In the first time in their history, in any format, the men from the Northwest Frontier have bettered Australia. Let’s face it, no one outside of that most inglorious of islands like the Aussies………what a happy day!

Australia won the toss and opted to field, no doubt expecting to blow the Afghans away for nothing…….pride comes before a fall!

The Afghans obviously hadn’t read the script, their 2 openers had a partnership of 111……..get your feet up! With contributions from the middle order Afghanistan made their way to 148 for 6, certainly not an insignificant score on a weather battered Jamaican pitch!

That last time Afghanistan and Australia played each other was in the ODI World Cup last winter. In that game The Afghans had Aus all but beaten but for a, frankly unbelievable 200 not out from The Big Show Glenn Maxwell to drag the Aussies over the line.

This morning, even The Big Show himself couldn’t do it for Australia. Maxwell hit a powerful 59, however the second highest scorer for the Aussies scored a pitiful 12. Australia, world cricketing wrong’ns were routed by, in my opinion, the future of the game, all out for 127.

Obviously, it’s been the best day of our cricketing lives, but what does it mean for the tournament……it blows it right open! Australia’s next game is against India……..you wouldn’t bet against India. Afghanistan’s next game is Against Bangladesh…….you wouldn’t bet against Afghanistan! An Indian Afghanistan 1 and 2 in group 1 and Australia knocked out…….yes please!

There has been loads of cricket over the last couple of days and unfortunately I’ve not been able to cover it all for you due to my schedule. You can check all the action, without my signature flare unfortunately, on the ECB app, don’t miss out!

England are currently playing America in a must win a must win game for Qualification. The All The Cricket team are watching and will bring you to news tomorrow. Come on England!!

All the best,

Nick
