Good evening sports fan, I hope you’re all well! Can I start by introducing you to the 2 newest All The Cricket fans!
Mario and Peaches are new to the household but they’ve already told me they love the cricket and can’t wait to hear about todays action!
Today’s headline game was India Vs Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, NY! This had the potential to be a really interesting one. Ireland are a full member test playing nation but they are definitely near the bottom of that list of teams. In comparison India, along with England and Australia compete for world number 1 spot. However, Ireland, as is the way of the underdog, have a habit of pulling off improbable wins! Where as India have a knack of losing matches they really shouldn’t against the run of play.
Today though, I’m not going to beat around the bush, India absolutely schooled the Irish! It wasn’t even close. On an admittedly tricky wicket the Irish batters were totally undone by the might of the Indian attack, the score card reading 2, 10, 4, 12, 3. Garth Delaney and Josh little put up a bit of resistance with 26 and 14 respectively. Despite best intentions the luck of the Irish was not with the men in green, finish all out for 96.
India in response did not mess about. The great Virat Kohli did have a less than excellent day getting out for just one. Despite that Sharma and Pant steered India home with absolutely no issues, although Sharma did retire injured. Hopefully for Rohit it’s nothing too serious.
India are off the mark and the question is, who’s going to stop them……..hopefully England!
There’s loads of cricket tomorrow and I’ve not totally decided how I’m going to go about reporting it but rest assured, I will be back!
